SPATIAL DETERMINANTS OF THE “CIRCLE OF TWO” IN BELGRADE
Abstract. The "Circle of Two" in Belgrade is an area of the city defined by the circular route of the tram No. 2. This space, enriched with commercial, cultural, historical, political, and geographical elements, promotes the informal centre of Belgrade. Long-term urban planning is a complex process that necessitates the involvement of multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, architects, sociologists, energy specialists, traffic engineers, ecologists, and others. Straying from validated plans or implementing ad hoc solutions regardless of the initiator would result in the disintegration, degradation, and disorientation of urban spaces.
This paper does not focus on the aspects related to the aforementioned qualified specialists. Considering the significant current and anticipated changes in both the narrow and broader centre of Belgrade, the primary aim of this paper is to document today's spatial determinants along the line of the “Circle of Two.”

Apstrakt. „Krug dvojke“ u Beogradu deo je grada definisan kružnom trasom tramvaja br. 2. Ovaj prostor, obogaćen komercijalnim, kulturnim, istorijskim, političkim i geografskim elementima, promoviše neformalni centar Beograda. Dugoročno urbanističko planiranje je složen proces, koji zahteva angažovanje multidisciplinarnih timova, uključujući urbane planere, arhitekte, sociologe, energetičare, saobraćajne inženjere, ekologe i druge. Odstupanje od validiranih planova, ili sprovođenje ad hoc rešenja, bez obzira na inicijatora, može dovesti do raspada, degradacije i dezorijentacije urbanih prostora.
Ovaj rad se ne fokusira na aspekte vezane za gore pomenute kvalifikovane stručnjake. Uzimajući u obzir značajne trenutne i najavljene promene, kako u užem tako i u širem centru Beograda, primarni cilj ovog rada je da dokumentuje današnje prostorne odrednice duž linije „Kruga dvojke“.
